Julia Tatiyatrairong is best known for her textural knitted works made of unconventional materials. Her use of knitting, crochet, and basket weaving in her work is deeply personal in exploring her identity and femininity in modern times. She studied visual art at Brown University and currently resides in Seattle, WA.
‘The Star’ and ‘The Tower’ are new works inspired by the 2 corresponding tarot cards. In tarotology, when these 2 cards are seen next to each other it can mean, for whom it concerns, that they have to ask for help and allow someone to help them and that they need to stop believing that they are always on their own. This reading, among others, in the use of tarot cards is an interesting way for people to reflect on themselves and the world.
