New Encaustic and Gold Leaf paintings by Jennifer Ament. Artwork for an upside-down world.

In her new series of paintings, Jen Ament departs from her usual organic shapes and free flowing movements and incorporates the more literal imagery of her printmaking using encaustic wax, gold leaf, and pigment powder. Based on recent experiences with the surreal, upside-down world of contemporary American society in 2018, Jen tells the story of truth as fiction, fiction as truth; day as night and night as day.

Jennifer Ament’s linocut prints and encaustic paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout the West Coast and in New York City, including Out of Sight, Gage Academy of Art, The Vera Project, Starbucks, Maker/Agent and Maison Luxe. Ament also has permanent collections at SeaTac airport.

Her work has been featured in numerous art and style publications, including The Huffington Post, Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, The Jealous Curator, Sunset Magazine, House Beautiful, Seattle Met Magazine, Seattle Magazine, GRAY Magazine, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles Magazine, and Luxe Magazine.

She received a BFA from the San Francisco Academy of Art in 1995 and has since studied at the Gage Academy of Arts and the Pratt Fine Arts Center. She lives and works in Seattle, WA.

She is also the founder of Artists For Progress, an organization that rallies artists to use their mediums as a voice for change, while also raising money and awareness for causes in-need.
